A few questions about using xbox360 extender and vista media center

Hey all my fellow countrymen. Stumbled upon your cool site while trying to find some info, hope one of you MCE veterans can assist.

I currently have an Xbox 360 (awesome piece of equipment) and will be upgrading to Vista over the weekend. I would like to check what exactly the capabilities are of Media center (which is a part of vista home premium), and what i will be able to do/ not do via my media center extender.

    1. Currently I can only stream WMV videos from my XP box to my XBOX360. (Unless I make use of tversity to transcode). Would I be able to play more formats through the Xbox if I were using Media center? (Specifically divx)

    2. I have a TV-Tuner in my PC. Is there a local service which would tell Media Center the SA TV schedule?

    3. Assuming I dont get TV schedule information, will I be able to still set up DVR recording based on start and end times (Like we did on video machines?)

    4. Is the media center extender interface navigatable using only my Xbox wireless controller?

Any other info/hints/suggestions would also be appreciated.

    1) no, not really...tversity, or mce trancode is still your best bet

    2) see here: http://sa-mce.com/forums/1287/ShowThread.aspx#1287

    3) yes, no problem (except for the fact that the guide DOES exist now as in the link above)

    4) there is a remote for the xbox360 to use with media center. it was originally bundled with the 360 premium package, but you have to buy it seperate now

The remote is best, but you can use the conroller if that's all you've got.

The 360 extender is awesome.  Enjoy it
